Coast Mountain Academy ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our alumni and community members. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use the Coast Mountain Academy Alumni Directory (the "Platform").
This policy is designed to comply with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
When you register for and use the Platform, we collect personal information that you voluntarily provide, as well as information collected automatically:
We use the information we collect strictly for the following purposes:
Your privacy is paramount. Coast Mountain Academy will never sell, lease, or disclose any of your personal data collected on this Platform to any external third parties or corporate partners.
Access to your profile is strictly limited to verified, logged-in members of the Coast Mountain Academy alumni community and authorized school staff. The directory is not accessible to the general public or searchable via external search engines (e.g., Google, Bing).
By providing your email address and phone number, you consent to receiving communications from Coast Mountain Academy regarding school updates, events, and fundraising. In compliance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), you may withdraw this consent at any time. You can manage your communication preferences or opt-out entirely by adjusting the settings in your user profile preferences.
The Platform uses strict, minimal cookies to function:
The Platform and its database are hosted by Dreamhost, a service provider based in California, USA. As a result, your personal information is stored on servers located in the United States and potentially other international data centers.
While your data is protected by strict confidentiality agreements and industry-standard security measures, please be aware that personal information stored outside of Canada is subject to the laws of that foreign jurisdiction, and may be accessible to foreign law enforcement or national security authorities under laws such as the US Patriot Act or CLOUD Act.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with directory services. If you wish to completely remove your profile from the directory, you may request a permanent and full account deletion by emailing alumni.directory@coastmountainacademy.ca.
Upon verifying your request, we will permanently purge your personal profile data from our active databases, subject to any limited retention required for administrative, legal, or archival obligations.
We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. However, no internet-based platform is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and ensuring you log out when using shared devices.
Under BC PIPA, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections to any inaccuracies. You can update all of your information directly through your profile dashboard. For more complex requests, please contact our Privacy Officer.
